ASEA’s
Statement on the Intra-Afghan Peace Talks
Afghanistan is in a very complicated position, both
politically and legally, for the intra-Afghan peace
talks. The disagreements between the two teams, the
opposition’s controversial stance, the pressure from the
Taliban, the interference from foreign adversaries,
poverty and the overall hopelessness of the Afghan
people regarding peace, are some of the fundamental
issues that, if not properly dealt with, could easily
take Afghanistan towards another crisis.
The international community has failed to provide peace
and security, counter terrorism and narcotics,
collect/buyback illegal firearms, to properly train and
equip the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National
Police, and has been unable to institutionalize
democracy. Also, the government has failed to govern and
rescue the country from crisis to bring prosperity to
the people. Finally, the trauma and pain that the
enemies of Afghanistan have inflicted up the people,
along with the prior and later have paralyzed the nation
and the country.
Unfortunately, our enemies have exploited the
differences between the two teams, as it is their usual
policy to exploit differences and to lead the crisis in
Afghanistan. Sadly, on the one hand, disputes and bitter
war between the leaders and, on the other, the
continuation of the crisis left the nation perplexed and
without any hope for the future.
At this time, we must take advantage of the power of
compassionate individuals and professionals in and out
of the country to address this cancerous crisis and to
save our beloved country and nation from this
unfortunate situation.
There is no more hope for external and foreign actors,
and if we, Afghans, do not act sooner, this unbearable
and unfortunate situation would continue to grow that
would threaten the security and unity of the country,
the immediate region and could spread globally. Similar
to the experience of the 70s, then the management of the
conflict would be an impossible task to achieve and
could lead to the division of the country.
The current situation in Afghanistan needs to be
resolved and managed by patriots, sympathetic
scientists, and experts. As it will never be solved by
those who prefer personal gains over national interests
and think in terms of power and gold.
Therefore, we—scientists and those interested in
rescuing the country from the crisis—demand from the
political leaders that they should not prefer personal
gains over national interests. And they should not let
their differences undermine and weaken the government
and the administration that could cause further violence
and bloodshed in the country.
The leaders of the Afghan Association of Scientists and
Experts expect the leaders of the country not to abuse
the name of Islam and the homeland. As it is in their
interest to renounce self-centeredness and ethnocentrism
and to abide by the rule of law and the Shariah.
Also, we believe that it is the solemn the duty of the
nation and the Afghan people not to allow internal and
external aggressors and actors to take the country into
crisis and, and not allow that nation to be a mean for
the deceitful political actions of a few profiteers.
The Assembly of Scientist and Experts of Afghanistan
calls on all countries and international organizations
to play a friendly role and avoid interfering in the
internal affairs of Afghanistan in the future and to
establish bilateral relations with our country based on
brotherhood and equality. The Afghan people expect all
peaceful governments, especially our dignified
neighbors, to respect the Afghan people's decision and
sovereignty. The era of deceit and bullying is over as
the Afghan people recognize their rights to have free
and fair elections without interference from foreign
adversaries and to resolve their internal affairs and to
make conscious decisions in their country's relations
with other countries. The Afghan people know and
understand that the only way to save themselves and
their country is only through this path.
The Assembly of Afghan Scientists and Experts, as an
impartial assembly, independent from any political or
party-affiliated entities, intends to put the peace
process on its agenda to resolve the current crisis
(rescue the country and the region peacefully) and to
secure peace with all the means at its disposal. The
Assembly is ready to play the role of the mediator
between all the political parties and actors who have
political differences and disagreements. Thereby the
Assembly invites all political, governmental,
international, as well as domestic parties and actors,
to participate in the third conference of the Assembly
titled as the “Peace Conference”. The "Peace Conference"
will be held in September 2020 at the Madrid University
of Political Science and Sociology.
The Assembly of Afghan Scientists and Experts is an
academic, specialized, and cultural body whose mission
is to bring the voice of the oppressed Afghan nation to
the international community's attention in securing
peace, democracy, and reconstruction. And to this end,
we eagerly invite all the educated, compassionate and
expert loved ones to cooperate.
The Assembly of Scientists and Experts of Afghanistan
believes that real peace is possible only if the legal,
political, and economic crises are alleviated, and all
human values and rights of ethnicities; be it social
justice, freedom of expression, women's rights and
rights are taken into account. We believe that this is
the best solution and can be reached through
negotiations, understanding, and compromise through
which we can overcome the crisis in Afghanistan.
Sincerely,
ASEA’s Leadership
